Hello. I'm the owner of this page and this is my Dodge LeBaron. Or Diplomat if you want. Its the same thing. This car is an Export model built to be sold outside U.S. then its named LeBaron. That means it has an speedometer in km instead if miles. I bought this car in januar 2003 and it has since been undergoing a "rolling mechanical restauration" to bring it back to original specifications  after years of abuse.

The car was originally bought by a nice fellow from Porsgrunn, Norway in 1979. It went the 3 first years of its life as a 3 seats wagon with the back seats folded down due to economical reasons at that time.  After 3 years you could register it again, and use the car as a 6 passenger car. This car is now registered as a 5 passenger car, and will soon be registered for 6 passengers. The first owner sold the car in 1993, and since it has had 12 owners.The fun thing, is that I called the first owner, and he actually had the first receipt from 1979! so he sent me the receipt and the Car Productin Broadcast sheet! Then I bought it. The car was in not to good shape when I got it, but a year with love and reparations, has done wonders for the car. This car is both my daily driver, and my car hobby, so its a nice and cheap hobby in the long run. The car has it's original paint intact and several waxing jobs, has made the paint shine again.

Among things I have done to make this a car on the road again, is; Choke adjustement, partly new exaust, refilled Air Condition, repaired the Door locks, new shocks, front and rear, wheel bearing front and rear, completely rebuilt the brakes, some eletrical jobs, and bought new summer and winter tires. 

All in all it has been a nice car for me, and in Norway to be a daily driver, this is a special car that makes a view wherever I go.  Its not unusual to be stopped and it makes people talk.

 I'm planning to upgrade the engine though and my plans is to convert it to EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection), change camshaft, and maybe, headers if it'll get cheap enought. The Eletronic Fuel Injection kit I will use, is Megasquirt and hopefully, it' will be done before the summer ends.You can read more about Megasquirt here: http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html

My car has originally according to specification sheet, with catalyst and EGR (Exaust Gas Resirculation) system;  135 Hp net. Since the catalyst and EGR is removed, and catalyst take 10-15 %, an low estimate is now about 160 HP maybe more. I find the car rather quick to weight about 4000 pounds (1950 kg) and dreams quite often of what a small tune up will do to my engine.or what a 360 could do.

En morsom ting er at jeg fikk kontakt første eieren, og han hadde faktisk originale kvitteringen fra 1979! Han har sendt meg kvitteringen og bilens Productin Broadcast papir. Bilen var i ikke til god form da jeg fikk den, men et år med kjærlighet og reparasjoner, har gjort underverker for bilen. Denne bilen er både min daglige bruksbil, og min bilhobby, derfor er det en hyggelig og billig hobby i det lange løp. Bilen har den original lakken  intakt og adskillige poleringer har gjort at lakken skinner igjen.

Blant ting jeg har gjort er: Choke justeringer, delvis nytt eksosanlegg, refylt luftkondisjonering, reparert dørlåsene, nye dempere, front og bakside, hjullager front og bakside, komplett gjenoppbygd bremsene, noe eletriske jobber, og kjøpt nye sommer og vinter dekk.

Alt i alt har det vært en hyggelig bil for meg, og i Norge til og være en bruksbil, er dette er en spesiell bil som lager oppsikt nesten uansett hvor jeg drar. Det er ikke uvanlig at folk stanser og prater.

Jeg planlegger og oppgradere motoren og bygge den om til EFI (Elektronisk drivstoffInjeksjon), ny camaksel, og kanskje, samlerør om det blir billig nok. Elektronisk drivstoff innsprøytningssystem  som jeg bruker, er Megasquirt og jeg får forhåpentligvis gjort det før sommeren slutter. Min bil har opprinnelig i henhold til spesifikasjoner, med katalysator og EGR (Exaust Gass Resirculation) system; 135 hester. Da katalysatoren og EGR er fjernet, og katalysatoren tar ca 10-15%, er et lavt estimat nå omtrent 155 Hester. Jeg finner bilen relativt kvikk til en vekt på ca 4000 pund (1950 kg) og drømmer rent ofte om hva en liten oppfriskning gjør for min motor. Eller hva en 360 gjør.
